Event wrap-up: Communicating Space

It was a packed house for our Communicating Space event at the Shine Dome on Monday, 3 June 2019. We featured a series of presentations on the communication voyage to launch the visual brand for Australia’s first Space Agency.

It was learning over lunch at the Shine Dome! Perfect location for a space comms event.
Dr Meghan Clarke spoke about the values and culture of the newly formed Australian Space Agency, and how these are fundamental to its brand.
The opportunity to develop an agency’s brand from scratch is rare. Hearing details from the comms team within the Department of Innovation, Industry and Science offered great insight into this process.
Chad Edwards from Ogilvy Australia explained how the Australian Space Agency logo is inspired by our Indigenous history.
Consultation and accuracy were essential to developing a strong new brand for the Australian Space Agency.
After the presentations it was space trivia time! A few lucky winners got to take home some Australian Space Agency merch.
We ended the event with a panel Q&A session, giving audience members the chance to ask about the processes and pitfalls of branding a new agency.
