IABC Asia Pacific Update
24 Sep 2015
It’s a great pleasure to write as Chair of the new IABC Asia Pacific Board. Having been an IABC member for six years and on the board of the NSW and now President of the Canberra chapter, I’m keen to build greater links across the Asia Pacific region.
APAC is one of the most diverse of IABC’s eight regions. We have around 700 members and 13 chapters in seven countries. The Philippines was the first chapter established outside the United States, and IABC Victoria is the largest chapter. Across our region we bought home 40 Gold Quills this year.
One thing I love about IABC is the focus on leadership development, and events such as the World Conference and Leadership Institutes are about developing these skills and delivering on the Global Standard.
The APAC Board has just agreed to hold a Regional Leadership Institute as a means to bring together existing and emerging leaders to share ideas, develop leadership skills, and build a stronger network across our region.
The Institute will be held in Sydney from 27-29 November 2015. I urge any members to consider attending this to develop your skills and knowledge that help you grow as a leader personally, professionally, and within IABC. It’s aimed at current and potential IABC leaders, from the inexperienced to expert.
We are working out the details of the program and will be promoting this extensively across the region. I encourage you to consider this and mark the date in your diaries.
