Welcome to 2019! From Alison Senti, IABC Canberra President
30 Jan 2019
Happy New Year Canberra communications community, I hope everyone had a chance to recharge their batteries in whatever way works for them – because 2019 is shaping up to be a big year in communication.
Whether you are in Government, have your own communication practice or lead a team of communicators there’s plenty in store. The highly-anticipated Federal Election (taking bets now on when it will be); the Brexit deadline coming to a head shortly and other important events in our region, Canberra communicators will have plenty to grapple with this year.
Your 2019 Board has a great program prepared for you, our members, to ensure we keep you across all the important issues and connected with each other. We will also be looking to build on our fantastic new partnership with University of Canberra and the Communicate Canberra project – if you haven’t had a chance to check out the case studies featured on the website, please do as there’s plenty of inspiration there.
Our first event is a Midweek Mingle event themed around the concept of NEW – new year, new to Canberra, new to communication, starting a new communication role this year or, you may be looking for a new perspective on what it means to be a communication professional in this town. Join us to chat and connect at 5.30pm, Wednesday 6 February at Walt and Burley, Kingston Foreshore – the first drink is on us!
We are committed to making IABC Canberra the place where Canberra communicators come together for insight, connection and professional development. If you have any feedback or suggestions for the Board I encourage you to get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org
