The Power of Mentorship: Why We Choose to Lead with Pallavi Dutt Singh

What drew you to become a mentor with the IABC Mentor Program?

As a passionate advocate for professional communication, I am immensely driven to instil the various elements of effective communication in aspiring experts.

The IABC Mentor Program offers a fantastic opportunity to share my knowledge, connect with upcoming marketing communication professionals, and help them to develop their skills.

Also, I believe this is a symbiotic relationship, in which by sharing my knowledge, I also gain fresh perspectives and learn from my mentees. The Program provides a platform for continuous learning and growth.

Can you share a little about your skills and experience?

I bring over 20 years of strategic communication experience in the Australian Government and international markets, and I hold a Master of Marketing Communication.

I excel in developing integrated communication strategies and have led several high-profile campaigns. As a communication specialist, I’m passionate about unified communication, visual identity, and brand management.

With a culturally and linguistically diverse background, I bring varied perspectives to my approach. I drive policies promoting a diverse workforce by breaking down barriers and recognising the value of cultural competency. I’m committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the communication field.

Through the IABC Mentor Program, I can help aspiring communicators from diverse backgrounds achieve their goals and contribute to a more inclusive industry.

Have you been a mentor or mentee in the past, and what was that experience like?

Yes, I have mentored Communication Graduates at my workplace, including members of the community, with a wider skill set as a volunteer for various organisations.

I find mentoring a very enriching experience. It provides me with a sense of fulfillment as I watch my mentees grow and succeed. The IABC Mentor Program allows me to make a meaningful impact on someone’s career and life.

What do you hope to accomplish through mentoring?

As a mentor, I hope to share my experiences and insights to help mentees not only achieve their goals but enjoy the learning journey. I aim to foster their professional growth, enhance their communication skills, and instil a sense of confidence and belonging. Additionally, I hope to contribute to a more diverse and inclusive industry by supporting individuals from various backgrounds. Ultimately, I strive to create a positive impact on their careers and lives.
